Citgo/Petro Express urban legend

My wife got an e-mail from a family member announcing that Citgo has changed its name to Petro Express and not to buy fuel from Petro Express as part of a boycott against Citgo. Anytime we get these e-mails we look it up. After my wife looked up the information she not only found it to be false but that Petro Express does excist and is American owned. They use to sell Citgo fuel, but like 7-11, has switched their fuel and no longer sells Citgo fuel. This is a terrable urban ledgend. Not only should they not be boycotted but should be rewarded with our business for changing their fuel. I am sending this to everyone in case any of you have gotten the e-mail asking you to boycott Petro Express. You can read about it at:

On the urban legend page listed above, they added this update that speaks specifically about the email going around now. Here is the update info:

Update: Variants circulating since November 2006 claim that some Citgo stations have changed their name to Petro Express in order to avoid being boycotted. One message states that "Petro Express is also 100% owned by Chavez." This is false.

Petro Express is a chain of gas stations/convenience stores wholly owned by a U.S. company based in North Carolina. Until recently, Petro Express did sell gasoline purchased from Citgo Petroleum Corp., but the company announced in October 2006 that it would phase out the Citgo product from all of its 66 stations by 2007.

Everyone knows that Hugo Chavez has been elected president of Venezuela for a second 6-year term. He's preaching hatred of the USA and promoting communism in Venezuela. He's also fomenting revolution throughout South America. I understand he is amending the
Venezuelan Constitution so he can end up like his hero, Fidel Castro, "Presidente for Life". . . or more correctly, "Dictator for Life". (Castro has "ruled" for 37 years, and look at Cuba)

If everyone forwards this memo, the news will spread across the country by tomorrow night!

NOTE: Hugo Chavez is the foreign owner of Citgo gas stations in the US, and he has openly stated that he is against all Americans and only wishes them death and destruction.
